In conveyancing and broader legal practice, a single transaction can involve dozens of individuals—buyers, sellers, agents, lenders, and representatives of corporate entities. Understanding who works for whom, and how each person is linked to a particular company, is essential for accurate record-keeping, risk assessment, and client communication. Our People Relationships feature gives you a single, authoritative view of those connections, eliminating the guesswork and manual cross-referencing that traditionally slows down a case.

Rather than treating contacts and companies as isolated data points, the system binds them together through intuitive “working for” relationships. Spouse, Child, Parent and Sibling relationships are also supported.

Taking Estate Agents as an example, by binding individuals to to an estate agency branch, these individual agents will be able to see and manage all their branch's matters through the portal, as well as any quotations and instructions. Note, estate agents can only see cases that their clients have given them permission to view.

 How It Works

  1. Create a Company Record – Enter the legal name, registration number, and any relevant classification. The system assigns a unique identifier that will be used for all relationships.
  2. Add a Contact – Capture the person’s details, role, and preferred method of communication. At this stage you can instantly link the contact to one or more companies.
  3. Define the Relationship – Choose from predefined relationship types such as “Working For”, "Spouse", "Sibling", "Parent", "Child" etc.
  4. View the Network – A clean, responsive table displays all linked contacts grouped by parent, including the type of relationship and the number of matters the contact is involved in.
  5. Leverage in Matters – When a new conveyancing matter is opened, the linked contacts are available for search on the matter screen, allowing for search by individual or parent "working for" record.

All actions are logged in an audit trail, ensuring you can always trace who created or modified a relationship and when.

 Real-World Scenarios

 Residential Conveyance

When a client sells a property through an estate agency, the solicitor can instantly see the buyer’s personal details, the estate agent’s company record, and the agent’s individual contact. All estate agents contacts linked to the same head branch record will be able view the case on the portal.

 Family 

Cases involving more than one family member capture the relationships properly. When, for example, a call comes in from a child, sibling, parent or spouse it is easy to check the records to see if this is indeed the case. Understanding the relationship between the contacts involved in a case is critical for security and GDPR.
